Chief scientist John Moore paid a visit to the Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research

On May 21, 2009, John Moore, Chief scientist of the College of Global Change and Earth System Science, and ChengXiao ,associated dean for academic and Wu Di,administrative assistant paid a academic visit to the Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research. The academic exchanging meeting was led by Ma Yaoming, assistant of the dean and section chief of scientific and technological cooperation department of ITP(Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research). Researchers, TIan Lide,Xu Baiqing and the associate researchers, Zhou Shiqiao,Wu Guangjian,Wang Xiaoping,Xu Ri and Ye Qinghua also joined the academic exchanging meeting. Graduate students and doctors in ITP also appeared in the meeting and had the talk by John Moore on inviatation.The topic of the talk covers: Paleoclimate, glaciology, climate system, climate ethics and public outreach, Paleoclimate in ice cores, radar-glaciology and time series analysis.

After the lecture, researcher Ma Yaoming made a detailed introduction about Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research and the fieldwork workstation. Prof. John Moore visited Laboratory of Tibetan Environment Changes and Land Surface Processes, and presented his satisfaction to the scientific equipments and experimental condition in the laboratory. Prof. Moore said the analysis work of drilled ice core can be operated in the Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research. With further communication, both sides show their interest of cooperation in the future, giving full play to each advantages and promoting the cooperation in glacier and ice core research area.(College of Global Change and Earth System Science)
