Abstract
The globalization is a
nuclear and sensitive issue that has been
studied by current academic circles. It is a
central one because all significant
economic, political, societal, secure and
cultural problems have been inherently
related to it. By its sensitivity,
globalization has been close links with
interest and future of every nation-state,
and made the subject of nationality and its
identity more notable than any other times.
Globalization has been advanced in its
range, depth, strength and density, and
became a strong context of contemporary era,
and made the context system and its boundary
of value philosophy, even social sciences
greatly transformed.
By making an
exploration in to the sources of
globalization, looking back on its
historical development, the origin of
globalization can be dated back to 1492, the
Great Geographical Discovery. The book gives
a clear definition of globalization from the
perspective of social and historical
development, that is globalization is a
subjective trend in which the sovereign
states and international organizations
facilitate the socialization of production
and division of labor by signing agreements
and laying down regulations according their
own demanding and interest; it is a process
spreading and extending toward every corner
of the world beyond the borders of
nation-states and the limits of barriers; it
is an infiltrating mutually and
interdependent together conditions formed by
economic, political and cultural factors,
etc. This book analyzes the characteristics
of the contemporary globalization, and puts
forward a scientific attitude to
globalization, i.e. analyzing reasonably and
dealing with it actively.
Globalization is not a
kind of value free neutralization,
“Globalization is a category of values”.
With the development of globalization tides,
colliding and conflicting between various
values will become even more frequent and
intensifying. Controversies centered on
globalization have reflected different
values position. Regarding to the theories
of globalization itself, we can divide it
into four distinct schools, i.e. the
Marxist, the Neo-liberalist, the Third Way
and post colonist, and different interest
request appears behind different
globalization context.
“Globalization let
us enter into intensive conflicting of
values. ” With the deepening of
globalization, clashing and blending,
confrontation and dialogue between different
values in the world, become a brilliant
prospect. This book makes a deep analysis
around “cultural conflicting theory”, “Asian
value outlook” and “New Liberalism” etc.,
and believes that the core of values
conflicts is opposition and conflict between
the general and the native ones, and we are
not only against accepting the general one
without principle, but also against adhering
to the native one blindly. This book
analyzes the features and mechanism of
values conflicts in the age of
globalization, and intends to put forward a
theoretical prerequisite to the
reconstruction of values.
